Ewan Kirkland

Screen studies teacher and researcher

Dr Ewan Kirkland teaches Screen Studies at the University of Brighton; his research interests include children’s media, horror video games, and popular representations of dominant identities. Ewan has published on masculinity in Hollywood family films, gender politics in animation, and whiteness in vampire television and crime drama. In addition Ewan has organised academic conferences on Battlestar Galactica, My Little Pony and zombies in popular culture. Currently, Ewan is completing a study of the relationship between children’s books, films, television, digital games and modernity.
