Medieval historian, academic
Simon Trafford is lecturer in medieval history at the University of London, specialising in early medieval migrations, the North Sea silver economy and the development of urbanism. He also publishes on use and appropriation of the early medieval past - and the vikings in particular - in popular culture, a subject which often allows him to indulge himself and talk in great detail about dodgy Scandinavian metal bands.
