The call for content closed at the end of February. We're currently sifting that, and will be recruiting session runners from the applicants. There may be room for more once we've finished that, but please hold off for a few weeks while we get ourselves sorted!

Nine Worlds 2017 is likely to consist of around 250 programme items, including panels, talks, screenings, performances, quizzes, gaming sessions, social meetups, and DJ sets.

Session runners bring the content to Nine Worlds. You can run between one and three sessions, which you’re welcome to participate in (though this isn’t compulsory.) These can be panels, workshops, talks... but the key is that the session is something that you want to see happen at Nine Worlds.

To make the sessions happen (well) you will need to:

  • Help producers balance sessions with regards to accessibility, race, gender & sexual identity.
  • Find the guests, speakers and moderators for your session.
  • Co-ordinate with producers in getting your participants to the right place at the right time.
  • Be in the session for at least the start and finish of it (barring session clashes, of course).

As well as being able to put together sessions around the ideas you have, you can also adopt from the pool of Nine Worlds content ideas once they are submitted. Though you will have a lot of responsibility over your sessions, you will always be in contact with your other session runners, producers and heads of content. If you have any problems, you will be able to reach help quickly.

Reimbursement and justification

This is intended to be a role for attendees who would like to run one, two or three content items as an interesting and rewarding part of their convention experience, while leaving them free to enjoy the rest of the event. You will need to be someone who is coming to Nine Worlds and holds or intends to hold a ticket. Note however that not all participants in programme items are required to be volunteers; professional performers and e.g. swordplay instructors are frequently paid for their involvement as their role in the convention is what they do for a living.

If you would like to run sessions, complete the content call-out form at this link and we'll get back to you after the close of the call-out. You don't have to submit an idea if you'd rather help to make other people's suggestions come to life - just jump through those parts of the form (and answering however you want) until you reach the session runner question and go from there.
