Preview: Business and negotiation games

A good deal if where you find it. Let's make a deal. I'll have my people talk to your people. Life is a negotiation. War is a racket. Is it any wonder there are so many boardgames about making money and cutting deals? Here's a few that we'll be putting on at NineWorlds. Come along and play or just watch!

I'm the Boss

Negotiation is up front and center in this one: the game board is a series of deals. Each deal needs certain cards to be contributed for it to go through. If a deal goes through, the deal-maker gets money. But to get the cards to complete the deal, they're going to have to promise some of the profits to other players ...

Complicating matters is that each player can play cards to derail negotiations, insert themselves into a deal, take over the role of deal-maker, and otherwise screw around with other peoples plans. If you want to make a deal, you gotta cut me a share!

Cash 'n' Guns

The big robbery has taken place - but the gang can't decide how to split the loot. It’s time to let the guns talk and soon everyone is aiming at everyone. Players simultaneously point their guns at each other. But are they bluffing? Is their gun loaded? And when under fire, are they going to take a dive for safety? It's a Mexican stand-off and the richest surviving gangster wins.

The game has bright orange foam pistols. What more could you want?

Cash 'n' Guns won the 2008 JoTa Party Game of the Year. More information is available at: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/19237/cash-n-guns
