Call for Participants - Crafting and Creating

Note - calls for participation in Nine Worlds 2016 are closed. This page does not represent the convention's current status, but has been preserved for reference.

We know that attendees, guests and organisers of Nine Worlds make a multitude of amazing things. From the annual Nine Worlds cookbook to amazing cosplay, from creative writing to performing fan operas, from readthroughs to singalongs and fanfic to vlogs.

We want to hear from diverse voices and about diverse things; you do not have to have previous experience presenting or be a professional, we're especially interested in people who are under-represented at conferences and conventions and in new things to do and talk about. We particularly encourage people of colour, disabled people, LGBTQAI+ people, neuroatypical people and people from other marginalised groups to get in touch.

We want to showcase, workshop and create as many different things and ways as you do. We've received a large number of pitches for this section and are already putting together many sessions, but we're still looking for panellists and participants in:

  • Performances
  • Child friendly workshops e.g. drama, drawing, crafts
  • Discussions about food/baking
  • Molecular gastronomy
  • Yarn craft - knitting/crochet
  • Fancrafts
  • SFX make up
  • Podcasts/podcasting/podfic
  • Photography
  • Vlogs, fanvids and video making
  • Creative writing
  • Non fiction writing

Please note: due to the large number of submissions we've received on Cosplay or Musicals, we would only consider further pitches on these topics from groups that have been under-represented to date, including people of colour, disabled people, LGBTQAI+ people.
