Journalism and photography guidance

First of all, welcome to Nine Worlds. We hope you find the experience enjoyable and productive. This page gathers together advice from elsewhere in a more digestible form. Here we go:

Advice for journalists and photographers

  • Press liaison - Claire is our press liaison. You should already be in touch with her as she handles press passes. She can help with picking schedule items, arranging interviews, and other press liaison activities. Her email address is press@nineworlds.co.uk.
  • Schedule planning - There's a huge amount going on. Look at the schedule and think about what fits your interests.
  • Communication badges - our badges have communication preferences on them. Please respect people's wishes about being approached.
  • No photo lanyards - Yellow lanyards are no photo lanyards. Do not photograph people wearing them.
  • Photography consent - Ask people before photographing them.
  • Press consent and badge - If you're operating in a journalistic capacity, you can only use material you gain with the knowledge and consent of the participants, and may not publish anything that would allow a person to be identified without their explicit permission. You must wear a 'press' badge, available from the registration desk, when operating in a journalistic capacity.
  • Harassment and other rules - You will be held to the same rules as other attendees. We have a harassment policy that you will need to follow.
  • Sharing photos with us - We’d love to see your photos after the event: tweet us @London_Geekfest with a link, or tag them #nineworlds.

Advice for attendees

We’ll be taking photos at the event, including crowd shots, which we’ll be using for publicity. If you don’t want to be photographed, please swap your lanyard for a bright yellow no-photo lanyard at the Registration Desk or the Info Desk, and wear it.
