Cosplay Rules, and Cosplay Contest

We love costumes at Nine Worlds, and are very much looking forward to seeing all your amazing cosplays! Please make sure you follow the costumes and weapons rules to keep things fun and safe for everyone, and be sure to show them off as part of the cosplay contest - there'll be fabulous prizes and eternal glory!

Costumes and Weapons Policy

These rules exist to help keep the event fun and safe for everyone - we take them seriously, and expect attendees to do so as well.

1. All costumes must abide by our anti-harassment policy - they must not be offensive on the
grounds of gender, sexuality, disability, physical appearance, body size, race or religion. This
includes t-shirt slogans. We decide what's offensive: please don't debate with staff.

2. We're a family-friendly event. Keep it PG-13: no nudity, and please don't dress in overtly
sexualised costumes.

3. All weapons must be non-functional (they can't actually hurt anyone), and must look fake from at
least three metres away. If they looks like they could possibly be dangerous in any way, weapons
must be peace-bonded at registration.

4. No weapons that look like real guns are allowed. We're at Heathrow! The police will take these
things very seriously. On that: the more costumed-up you are, the more forgiving hotel security
will be regarding fake firearms. Stormtroopers with blasters - awesome! Street clothes with a
black plastic toy pistol - problem. Arguing that you're cosplaying Joe Chill will not help.

5. No firing of loaded functioning projectile weapons outside of event-organised weapon-play
sessions - this includes NERF guns, water pistols, silly-string guns, ping-pong pistols and more.

6. Please don't aim weapons at people without their consent. If you're posing for a photo, try aiming
them skywards.

7. No metal bladed weapons. Non-metal bladed weapons should be blunt.

8. Absolutely no explosives - including, but not limited to, smoke powder, sparklers, and fireworks.

9. No play-fighting with prop weapons outside of event organised weapon-play sessions.

10. There will be kids at the event - please don’t run around deliberately scaring them.
