Val Nolan is the author of near-future science-fiction stories as well as of academic work on SF literature and television. His fiction has been published in Interzone, The Year’s Best Science Fiction, and the ‘Futures’ page of Cosmos, while his story ‘The Irish Astronaut’ was shortlisted for last year’s Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award. Recent academic publications includes articles and book chapters on Lost, Fringe, Grant Morrison, and Flann O’Brien. He currently teaches literature and creative writing at National University of Ireland, Galway, and regularly reviews books for the Irish Examiner. He will be speaking at Nine Worlds about writing workshops and the future of the Star Trek franchise.
