Paul Hawkins

Author and musician

Paul Hawkins is an author and musician. He was born with a range of physical disabilities including bladder and bowel issues, a congenital heart condition and fine motor coordination difficulties.

He has written essays for the Unsilent Library (a collection of essays on the post-2005 Doctor Who, published by the SF Foundation) and "Buffy Goes Dark" (a collection Season Six and Seven of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, published by McFarland publishing). His first book, Bad Santas and Other Creepy Christmas Characters, was published by Simon & Schuster UK in 2013. The book tracks the history of Father Christmas through the dark and gory European myths and folklore that spawned his creation.

He is also a musician and ahs performed at Latitude, The South Bank Centre and the Tate Britain with his band Paul Hawkins & The Awkward Silences. He has also appeared on Radio 1, BBC London and 6 Music. He also works for a disability charity that work to improve access to live music for disabled and deaf audiences.
